Deputies of the Atyrau maslikhat visited the Waste Management Facility (WMF) of West Dala to familiarize themselves with the methods and technologies in the field of industrial waste management and their impact on the environment.
West Dala provides a full range of waste management services to organizations in the oil and gas industry, trade and service companies, medical organizations, as well as various companies. West Dala's activities are carried out on the basis of permits in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan: licenses for activities, environmental permits for the impact of facilities of the first category, sanitary and epidemiological certificates for facilities and other documents.
The Waste Management Facility (WMF), which is located at 8 km of the Atyrau-Uralsk highway in Makhambet district, is equipped with modern equipment for waste and wastewater management. At the WMF, the deputies were shown the chain of integrated management at the site: how waste reception is organized, how waste sorting, treatment of industrial effluents and liquid waste are carried out; environmentally safe high-temperature decontamination of waste; neutralization of waste; demercurization of waste; recycling of chemical liquid and solid waste, food, medical and other types of waste. All units at the complex are equipped with multi-stage cleaning of waste gases, so that the combustion gases from the units are purified and are not harmful to the environment, which is confirmed by the results of monitoring of an accredited laboratory.
Having visited the WMF, the deputies noted the high level of organization of work at the site, the cleanliness of the territory and compliance with sanitary norms.
In turn, representatives of West Dala told the deputies about the problematic issues of the industry, related to construction waste, glass waste, batteries and other waste. During the meeting it was also noted that at present in the region there is unprofessional treatment of medical waste by some unscrupulous companies, which is harmful to the ecology of the region.
