In Astana was hold on the First Eurasian Business Forum “Green Energy & Waste Recycling Forum”. The Forum was organized by Kazakhstan Association of Waste Management “KazWaste” and European-Russian Business Association “ERBA” with the support of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Chamber of Kazakhstan “Atameken” and JSC “NC Astana EXPO-2017” on the eve of the International Specialized Exhibition “Astana EXPO-2017” – “Future Energy”. Official Sponsors of the Forum – “Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B. V. and “Tomra Sorting Company”.

The event attracted more than 120 people from Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Germany and France. Among the participants were state bodies, specialized enterprises for waste management, large-scale industrial enterprises, non-governmental organizations, international experts and the media.

At the first day of the Forum on the session “Smart Energy in Smart City”, and “Waste-to-Energy”, the participants discussed the possibilities and prospects of development in Kazakhstan “Green Energy” and in particular energy from waste. The key speakers were from the Renewable Energy Department Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, foreign companies which are manufacturing the equipment for generating energy from waste. Participants were provided with modern equipment for the production of clean energy from various wastes.

On the second day of the Forum were held a thematic round tables on the following themes:

  • Collecting, sorting, packing, storing, and disposing of solid waste;
  • Implementation of EPR in the EAEU member States: results and prospects;
  • Recycling and processing of industrial and hazardous waste;
  • Problems and prospects of recycling the electrical waste and electronic equipment;
  • Improving the system of collection and recycling of used tyres and mercury-containing waste.

West Dala, LLP participated in the round table “Recycling and processing of industrial and hazardous waste” with the presentation: “Integrated Waste Management in the Large Industrial Companies”.

In the round table were discussed a topical problems of collection, recycling and processing of various types of waste, includes equipment for processing these wastes, the possibility of using recycled resources in the manufacture of products. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions to representatives of state bodies, Operator of ERP, the international experts to exchange experience and establish business contacts for the further cooperation.

The Forum was a major event for the promotion the development waste management industry and “Green Energy” in Kazakhstan, Russia and other countries. The Forum recommendations will be developed and provided to the government bodies and other stakeholders.

The spring floods in Atyrau region posed a challenge for all the residents. The emergency situation left no one indifferent: many Kazakhstani companies, including West Dala LLP, assisted the state in mitigating the consequences of this natural disaster. 

Last week, in Atyrau’s “Otbasy” park, an initiative by the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Regulation led to the planting of trees as part of the national campaign “Taza Kazakhstan.” Most of those who attended the event were employees from the oil and gas industry. Volunteers from West Dala, along with other participants, planted 1,000 ash and fruit tree saplings in place of the green areas that were lost during the floods.

The seminar “Local Content in Goods: Strategic Development of the Country and Industry,” organized by the KazService Union of Oil Service Companies in partnership with Tengizchevroil LLP (TCO) and took place on October 11 in Atyrau city. It served as a platform for engaging domestic manufacturers in the company’s major projects. More than 160 participants from over 50 enterprises attended the event.

At the largest Forum in Central Asia on waste management and recycling, “Green Energy & Waste Recycling” (GEWR), the ideas, successful experiences, and the best technologies for disposal and recycling of industrial and consumer wastes were discussed.
